Thank you for volunteering as a team parent!!!

Attached is a list of the responsibilities and a suggested time frame in which the tasks might be completed.  There is also a suggestion as to which tasks might be delegated to other parents to help keep your job as team parent manageable.

You will find your main job will be to act as a liaison between coach, players, and parents.  Please feel free to call me with any questions you may have.

Thanks again for volunteering your time and effort!!

So what does a Team Parent do? ....

1.      Keep your parents and players informed and participate!

BEFORE THE FIRST GAME!

Ø      Make a team roster.   Include the player’s name, jersey #,

telephone #, and parents/guardian’s names.

Ø      Assign Jersey Numbers.

Collect all team jersey to have numbers applied and distribute before the first game.  New players will need numbers applied to their jerseys.  Returning players may have a jersey and number.  Make sure there are no duplicate numbers.  The Uniform Coordinator is Deanna Peterson, if you questions please call Deanna at 916-863-1240.

Ø      Make snack schedule.  Snacks typically include

fruit at halftime and a drink & snack at the end of

the game.  It is help to inquire if any of the soccer

a player has an allergy to a particular kind of food/drink.

Ø      Game Schedule & Maps

Your Team Coach will receive a game schedule.  The following link will provide game details:

http://www.mysoccerleague.com/  .   We are under Capital

Valley Soccer.

Ø      Team Banner

Find out at practice if a banner already exists for your team.

If not make a team banner

(or get someone else to make one!)

Banners are generally 3’ by 4’ or as large as 4’ by 5’ and include all the player names or nick names.  The banner will be the background for your team photo.

Ø      Phone Tree or Group e-mails

In the event of last minute changes to the schedule, player/ parents must be notified.  Make a phone tree listing all the parents in the order that they should call each other.  If all your parents have e-mail and check it daily, make an team e-mail group for easy communications.

Ø      Team Photos

The date and time for team photos will be announced.  Each player will receive a team photo and 2 individual 3” x 5” photos at no charge.  Extras photos may be purchased.

Ø      Help during the games if needed.  Have fun!!  Display and encourage positive spectator sportsmanship.

BEFORE NOVEMBER

Ø      Trophies

Trophies are included in this year’s registration fees so there is no additional cost.  Compile a list of player names for the trophies and e-mail or call list to Victoria West at tammy_chabino@sbcglobal.net 0r 916-487-6609.   Please check spelling of all the names with the parents.  Trophies should be distributed at the end of the season party.  Tammy Chabino will contact you with a date and time for trophy pick-up.

Ø      Coaches Gift

Collect a small contribution for the coaches’ gift (coach & assistant) is standard.  A coach plaque or gift card is a nice thank you gift.  The Coaches are volunteers and spend a lot of time and energy with your kids.

Ø      End of the Season Party

Near the beginning of October you will receive the 2nd half of the season’s schedule.  This is a good time to reserve a location and time for the party.   This is another job you may want to delegate to a helpful parent.  It is practical to plan it for the same day as the last scheduled game.  Plan early because pizza/party locations book up fast.  Most local pizzerias will give a “Soccer Team” discount of 10 to 15% off the total bill if ordered in advance.  A cake or cupcakes can be provided by a parent volunteer or purchased through donations from the team.

          *  Some teams like to start a “quarter can” to help offset the cost of the party.  Keep a lidded can with a slot available at the games and ask for a quarter donation for each goal the team scores.
